REQUIEM

Below are the two final essays to be posted on Allegiance and Duty Betrayed. The first one is written by a friend -- screen name 'Euro-American Scum' -- who, over the past four years, has been the most faithful essayist here. He has written about everything from his pilgrimage to Normandy in 2004 to take part in the 60th–year commemoration of the invasion, to his memories of his tour in Vietnam. His dedication to America’s founding principles ... and those who have sacrificed to preserve them over the past 200+ years ... is unequaled. Thank you, E-A-S. It has been a privilege to include your writing here, and it is a privilege to call you my friend.

The second essay is my own farewell. And with it I thank all of the many regular visitors, and those who may have only dropped in occasionally, for coming here. I hope you learned something. I hope a seed or two was planted. But, even if not, I thank you for stopping by ... 25 March, 2010

The United Nations: Land of Murderers,
Despots and Final Warnings

I saw/heard the president’s address to the U.N. on C-Span this morning. I also heard the speeches of Secretary General Annan, the President of the General Assembly (Al Khalifa), and the President of Brazil (Da Silva), all of whom preceded Bush.

It's not surprising that a Muslim is now the President of the General Assembly, since the U.N. is now entirely controlled by the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Until now, I had never witnessed the proceedings on the floor of the U.N. for any length of time, and, despite my loathing of that body as the most prominent reason for the global spread of Marxism and the emboldening of terrorism, I still found myself incensed at what I saw and heard. I literally felt in need of a shower after turning off the television -- as if I had spent the morning in a toxic waste dump.

Other than making token and hypocritical reference to the value of freedom and excellence (both of which the villainous world body disdains), every speech leading up to the president's extolled the value of, and the pressing need for, the working people of the world to give up (at the point of a gun, if need be, although that remained unsaid) a large portion of the fruits of their labor for the 'disadvantaged' of the world.

That's it. That's what the U.N. of 2006 stands for -- redistribution of wealth and prosperity, at the point of a gun, if need be (and, it goes without saying, the destruction of the state of Israel, although that, too, remained unspoken).

I am not a fan of the president. But, as I saw and heard him speaking to that malevolent body, I became acutely aware of the fact that America's days are numbered. That the rest of the world is seeking to build a future that is in direct and violent contrast to the vision of America's Founders. And that our leadership in Washington either (1) hasn't a clue as to how to go about preserving the American vision against the vile madmen who see it as their destiny to annihilate it, or (2) prefers to indirectly ally themselves with the madmen.

Our daughter, who is a research/documentation specialist working under contract with the Army out of Frederick, MD, has traveled to Bangkok three times within the last three months, having arrived home from her last assignment just a few weeks ago. Today's Thai military coup brought the reality of geopolitical unrest home a little too closely for comfort. Had she still been in Bangkok, I would have been extremely concerned for her safety.

I'm afraid we live in a violent, unjust world -- perhaps moreso than at any time in the history of mankind. And this morning when I saw and heard leaders of virtually every nation on the globe gathered together planning how best to foist upon what remains of the free world their often violent vision of the ultimate worldwide socialist utopia ... and I heard the American president speaking to them as if his words had any hope of piercing their arrogant, powerful, self-serving armor ... I became indescribably sad for us all. They haven't any use for us, other than to plunder from us the hard-won rewards of our two-plus centuries of historically unparallelled liberty-based prosperity … so as to use their ill-gotten gains to see their new-world agenda to its contemptible end. And (mark my word), barring a miracle, they will.

WHY did President Bush bother to go to the UN?

They are our enemies.

Did you hear Ajmadinejad speak this afternoon, Joanie? He was as fanatical as Bush was realistic.

From and article by Pipes in the New York Sun a few months ago: "The most dangerous leaders in modern history are those (such as Hitler) equipped with a totalitarian ideology and a mystical belief in their own mission. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fulfills both these criteria, as revealed by his U.N. comments. That combined with his expected nuclear arsenal make him an adversary who must be stopped, and urgently."

And that was written BEFORE today’s tirade. ;)

Lori, the only man for whom I would ever consider leaving my husband is the venerable Charles Krauthammer. :) (Don’t worry … I’ve already warned Rick that, should Chuck show up at our door with flowers, chocolates, and an autographed copy of ‘Cutting Edges: Making Sense of the Eighties’ I’d be weak-kneed, at best. :)

At any rate, Krauthammer wrote the article below, on Ahmadinejad, almost a year ago. I have tried countless times to excerpt it when writing my own opinions, but cannot! Every single word is priceless and indispensable. Please read it (and weep).

When Ahmadinejad dies, I am going to personally offer to buy his tombstone, and it's going to be gargantuan, because I want every word of Krauthammer's brilliant column to be carved on it. There could be no more fitting eulogy:

Lest you get carried away with today's good news from Iraq, consider what's happening next door in Iran. The wild pronouncements of the new Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have gotten sporadic press ever since he called for Israel to be wiped off the map. He subsequently amended himself to say that Israel should simply be extirpated from the Middle East map and moved to some German or Austrian province. Perhaps near the site of an old extermination camp?

Except that there were no such camps, indeed no Holocaust at all, says Ahmadinejad. Nothing but "myth," a "legend" that was "fabricated . . . under the name 'Massacre of the Jews.' This brought the usual reaction from European and American officials, who, with Churchillian rage and power, called these statements unacceptable. That something serious might accrue to Iran for this -- say, expulsion from the United Nations for violating its most basic principle by advocating the outright eradication of a member state – is, of course, out of the question.

To be sure, Holocaust denial and calls for Israel's destruction are commonplace in the Middle East. They can be seen every day on Hezbollah TV, in Syrian media, in Egyptian editorials appearing in semiofficial newspapers. But none of these aspiring mass murderers are on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons that could do in one afternoon what it took Hitler six years to do: destroy an entire Jewish civilization and extinguish 6 million souls.

Everyone knows where Iran's nuclear weapons will be aimed. Everyone knows they will be put on Shahab rockets, which have been modified so that they can reach Israel. And everyone knows that if the button is ever pushed, it will be the end of Israel.

But it gets worse. The president of a country about to go nuclear is a confirmed believer in the coming apocalypse. Like Judaism and Christianity, Shiite Islam has its own version of the messianic return -- the reappearance of the Twelfth Imam. The more devout believers in Iran pray at the Jamkaran mosque, which houses a well from which, some believe, he will emerge.

When Ahmadinejad unexpectedly won the presidential elections, he immediately gave $17 million of government funds to the shrine. Last month Ahmadinejad said publicly that the main mission of the Islamic Revolution is to pave the way for the reappearance of the Twelfth Imam.

And as in some versions of fundamentalist Christianity, the second coming will be accompanied by the usual trials and tribulations, death and destruction. Iranian journalist Hossein Bastani reported Ahmadinejad saying in official meetings that the hidden imam will reappear in two years.

So a Holocaust-denying, virulently anti-Semitic, aspiring genocidist, on the verge of acquiring weapons of the apocalypse, believes that the end is not only near but nearer than the next American presidential election. (Pity the Democrats. They cannot catch a break.) This kind of man would have, to put it gently, less inhibition about starting Armageddon than a normal person.

Indeed, with millennial bliss pending, he would have positive incentive to, as they say in Jewish eschatology, hasten the end.
To be sure, there are such madmen among the other monotheisms. The Temple Mount Faithful in Israel would like the al-Aqsa mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount destroyed to make way for the third Jewish Temple and the messianic era. The difference with Iran, however, is that there are all of about 50 of these nuts in Israel, and none of them is president.

The closest we've come to a messianically inclined leader in America was a secretary of the interior who 24 years ago, when asked about his stewardship of the environment, told Congress: "I do not know how many future generations we can count on before the Lord returns; whatever it is we have to manage with a skill to leave the resources needed for future generations." But James Watt's domain was the forest, and his weapon of choice was the chainsaw. He was not in charge of nuclear weapons to be placed on missiles that are paraded through the streets with, literally, Israel's name on them. (They are adorned with banners reading "Israel must be wiped off the map.") It gets worse. After his U.N. speech in September, Ahmadinejad was caught on videotape telling a cleric that during the speech an aura, a halo, appeared around his head right on the podium of the General Assembly. "I felt the atmosphere suddenly change. And for those 27 or 28 minutes, the leaders of the world did not blink. . . . It seemed as if a hand was holding them there, and it opened their eyes to receive the message from the Islamic Republic."

Negotiations to deny this certifiable lunatic genocidal weapons have been going nowhere. Everyone knows they will go nowhere. And no one will do anything about it.

WHY did President Bush bother to go to the UN?

More important questions are

Why do we pay most of the dues in that organization?

Why do we stay a member?

Why do we allow their building on our sovereign soil?

The UN consists of about ten Constitutional Republics, two tyrannical party states which have power due to their size (Russia, China), and one hundred seventy some odd tinhorn dictatorships operated by self serving cabals of despots who lack the mental acumen to operate an ice cream truck.

I hear a lot of drugs are sold out of ice cream trucks.

It's also known that the federal fascist bureaucrats are implementing unratified UN treaties.

Example -

In 1994, the US senate rejected the UN Biodiversity Treaty. The treaty called for setting aside vast expanses of public and private land for biodiversity, whatever the hell that means in UN soft law interpretation.

Clinton told the bureaucracy to implement the treaty anyway.

Result -

The federal bureaucracy let loose with the endangered species act and clean water act to remove millions of acres of property, both public and private, from development.

And now the USSC has stepped in with Kelo, which essentially takes all private property and sets it on the sales block to further the collective Marxist good as defined by the state.

WHY did President Bush bother to go to the UN?

Sandra, even better questions might be "Why did the CFR hold a 90 minute meeting with Ahmadinejad after his U.N. speech?" and "Why did Time Magazine have an interview with him?"

I have no respect for either organization but doing what they did got little press.

Anonymous said...

Skrew the UN.

Good points, Dave.

Rob,

The fact that the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations)

had the insane Ahmadinejad "speak" for 90 minutes to them

is MUCH more significant than any of the other insanity connected with this farce---

including the US State Department's letting him in the US in the first place.

WHAT is going on here---right in front of us?

WHAT is going on here---right in front of us?

What's going on here, dear Sandra, is that the liberals in this country are commiserating with the enemy. They are giving them the podium, the words, and the means to destroy us.

College professors these days are teaching their students to respect those who want to destroy us, and to hate the country that has given them more freedom than they could have found anywhere else.

Any parent that is willing to spend $200,000 on a college education for their kid to learn to hate and want to destroy their country is certifiable.

But there are tens of thousands of them out there, and most of them vote.

Higher education is a joke. "Fair and balanced" is a joke. Government of the people, by the people and for the people is a joke.

Have a nice day.

We allow these antiAmerican despots into the country because of the United Nations. They say horrible untrue inappropriate things about our elected leaders which apply more to the speakers than the people they attack. When is this country going to wake up?

Get rid of the U.N. Stand for what is good and right, it is scarey the wierdos that pass for Americans. A good portion of this country needs to wake up- get real- wizen up- leave if they can't obey the laws and have serious problems with the majority and morality.

Thanks for the excellent observations, Dave. Just hearing the word ‘Kelo’ makes my blood boil.

The federal government owns just under half of all the land in the west – almost ninety percent of the state of Nevada. ‘Land conservation’ and ‘environmental concerns’ are noble sounding causes, but much of what appears under the guise of both is simply the government unconsitutionally stealing private land to sock away in the federal land coffer.

What is most disturbing – and I don’t believe even one percent of the citizenry has any knowledge of this – is that much of our National Park land is now under United Nations control, and much of that transfer of power that literally threatens our sovereignty occurred under Clinton’s watch. (Just one of countless examples: Yellowstone National Park is now designated a ‘United Nations World Heritage Area and Biosphere Reserve’).

The fact that these transfers of our sovereign land (and some of the most beautiful, untouched land within our soon-to-be-erased borders) to United Nations jurisdiction has gone virtually unnoticed by the media, and therefore by the populace, is not surprising, but no less infuriating.

“It’s time for the United States to leave the United Nations and spearhead the formation of a new, more workable international consortium... On Wednesday [20 September, 2006], our president—and ‘our’ includes Americans who do and don’t like him—was verbally assaulted before the United Nations General Assembly in a manner more befitting a wrestling match than what is supposed to be a solemn gathering of the world’s nation-states. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez insulted President Bush by saying ‘the Devil was here yesterday,’ and ‘it smells of sulfur still today.’ That’s right. This dictatorial brute came to our own New York City and spat in the face of our president. And the attacks didn’t stop with Bush. Chavez declared that ‘the United States’ empire is on its way down, and it will be finished soon.’ How did those in the audience react? Many roundly applauded when he was done.” —Matt Towery as quoted in The Patriot Post

Clinton faults Bush for inaction on bin Laden

Sep 22, 2006 By Joanne Morrison

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton, angrily defending his efforts to capture Osama bin Laden, accused the Bush administration of doing far less to stop the al Qaeda leader before the September 11 attacks.

In a heated interview to be aired on Sunday on "Fox News Sunday," the former Democratic president defended the steps he took after al Qaeda's attack on the USS Cole in 2000 and faulted "right-wingers" for their criticism of his efforts to capture Osama bin Laden.

"But at least I tried. That's the difference in me and some, including all of the right-wingers who are attacking me now," Clinton said when asked whether he had failed to fully anticipate bin Laden's danger. "They had eight months to try, they did not try. I tried. So I tried and failed."

The September 11 attacks occurred almost eight months after President George W. Bush succeeded Clinton in January 2001.

"I authorized the CIA to get groups together to try to kill him," Clinton said. He added he had drawn up plans to go into Afghanistan to overthrow the Taliban and launch an attack against bin Laden after the attack on the Cole in the Yemeni port of Aden.

"Now if you want to criticize me for one thing, you can criticize me for this: after the Cole, I had battle plans drawn to go into Afghanistan, overthrow the Taliban and launch a full-scale attack search for bin Laden. But we needed basing rights in Uzbekistan -- which we got after 9/11," Clinton said.

The former president complained at the time the CIA and FBI refused to certify bin Laden was responsible for the USS Cole attack.

"While I was there, they refused to certify. So that meant I would have had to send a few hundred special forces in helicopters, refuel at night," he said.

Earlier this month, Clinton dismissed as "indisputably wrong" a U.S. television show that suggested her was too distracted by the Monica Lewinsky scandal to confront the Islamic militant threat that culminated in the September 11 attacks.
