REQUIEM

Below are the two final essays to be posted on Allegiance and Duty Betrayed. The first one is written by a friend -- screen name 'Euro-American Scum' -- who, over the past four years, has been the most faithful essayist here. He has written about everything from his pilgrimage to Normandy in 2004 to take part in the 60th–year commemoration of the invasion, to his memories of his tour in Vietnam. His dedication to America’s founding principles ... and those who have sacrificed to preserve them over the past 200+ years ... is unequaled. Thank you, E-A-S. It has been a privilege to include your writing here, and it is a privilege to call you my friend.

The second essay is my own farewell. And with it I thank all of the many regular visitors, and those who may have only dropped in occasionally, for coming here. I hope you learned something. I hope a seed or two was planted. But, even if not, I thank you for stopping by ... 25 March, 2010

Taking a Brief Respite from
Reflecting on the Woes of the World :)

Is it just my eyes playing tricks on me, or does she look
significantly more wise than many American voters?

I'd say your vision is 20/20.

That's what I call a room with a view! She's beautiful! (Was there only one fawn?)

There were two fawns, Lori, but the photo was so wide that I had to crop the second fawn out in order to fit the pic inside the space allowed in the column. :(

Here's the entire shot, plus two others that I took:

Very nice, Joanie. We don't have deer here in my city. The only thing roaming around here are crack heads.

I'd guess 20 IQ points higher than the average Republican, 50 higher than the average Democrat.

It's amazing how you can add a political slant to anything! ;)

That doe looks awfully skinny. Aren't you feeding her well? ;)

Nice photo. Thanks for posting.

Does and fawns are so sweet. I don't know how anyone can shoot them.

Awesome!

The deer I have come across are anything but wise.
