REQUIEM

Below are the two final essays to be posted on Allegiance and Duty Betrayed. The first one is written by a friend -- screen name 'Euro-American Scum' -- who, over the past four years, has been the most faithful essayist here. He has written about everything from his pilgrimage to Normandy in 2004 to take part in the 60th–year commemoration of the invasion, to his memories of his tour in Vietnam. His dedication to America’s founding principles ... and those who have sacrificed to preserve them over the past 200+ years ... is unequaled. Thank you, E-A-S. It has been a privilege to include your writing here, and it is a privilege to call you my friend.

The second essay is my own farewell. And with it I thank all of the many regular visitors, and those who may have only dropped in occasionally, for coming here. I hope you learned something. I hope a seed or two was planted. But, even if not, I thank you for stopping by ... 25 March, 2010

The "Not So Poor" Twelve-Year-Old Who Rebutted Bush on the SCHIP Veto

SCHIP.jpg

Graeme Frost, who gave the democrat rebuttal to George Bush’s reasons for vetoing the SCHIP Bill, is a middle school student at the exclusive $20,000 per year Park School in Baltimore, MD.

Graeme was in a severe car accident three years ago, and received care paid for by the government program known as SCHIP (State Children's Health Insurance Program).

"I was in a coma for a week and couldn't eat or stand up or even talk. My sister was even worse," Graeme wrote. "My parents work really hard and always make sure my sister and I have everything we need, but we can't afford private health insurance."

His sister Gemma, also severely injured in the accident, attended the same school prior to the accident meaning the family was able to come up with nearly $40,000 per year for tuition for these 2 grade schoolers. Confirmation both attended Park found here using edit-"find on this page"- Gemma. It will take you to an article in the school's newspaper about a fundraiser for Gemma class of 16, and Graeme class of 13.

Here are photos of the school's 44,000 square foot Wyman Arts Center: two galleries, an outdoor ampitheater, Meyerhoff Theater, Macks-Fidler Black Box Theater, practice rooms, rehearsal space, and ceramics, 3-D sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, painting, photography, digital graphics studios, recording studio, and keyboard lab.

In a Baltimore Sun article the family claims to be raising their four children on combined income of about $45,000 a year. "Bonnie Frost works for a medical publishing firm; her husband, Halsey, is a woodworker. They are raising their four children on combined income of about $45,000 a year. Neither gets health insurance through work."

What the article does not mention is that Halsey Frost has owned his own company "Frostworks", since this marriage announcement in the NY Times in 1992, so he chooses to not give himself insurance. He also employed his wife as "bookkeeper and operations management" prior to her recent 2007 hire at the "medical publishing firm". As her employer, he apparently denied her health insurance as well.

His company, Frostworks, is located at 3701 E BALTIMORE ST. A building that was purchased for $160,000 in 1999. The building's owner is listed as DIVERSIFIED INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CENTER, LLC whose mailing address is listed as 104 S Collington Ave which is the Frost's home. The commercial property he owns is also listed as the business address for another company called Reilly's Designs which leads to the question of whether rental income is included in the above mentioned salary total.

The current market value of their improved 3,040 sqaure-foot home at 104 S Collington Ave is unknown but 113 S COLLINGTON AVE, also an end unit, sold for $485,000 this past March and it was only 2,060 square feet. A photo taken in the family's kitchen shows what appears to be a recent remodeling job with granite counter tops and glass front cabinets.

One has to wonder that, if time and money can be found to remodel a home, send kids to exclusive private schools, purchase commercial property and run your own business ... maybe money can be found for other things ... maybe Dad should drop his woodworking hobby and get a real job that offers health insurance rather than making people like me (also with 4 kids in a 600 square foot smaller house and tuition $16,000 less per kid and no commercial property ownership) pay for it in my taxes.

This is an excellent perspective. This whole SCHIP thing is just one part of the plan to get Hillarycare in place by increments.

Good job of exposing the deceptions!

Back in 1993, according to an internal White House staff memo, then-first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s staff saw federal coverage of children as a “precursor” to universal coverage.

In a section of the memo titled “Kids First,” Clinton’s staff laid out backup plans in the event the universal coverage idea failed.

And one of the key options was creating a state-run health plan for children who didn’t qualify for Medicaid but were uninsured.

That idea sounds a lot like the current State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which was eventually created by the Republican Congress in 1997.

“Under this approach, health care reform is phased in by population, beginning with children,” the memo says. “Kids First is really a precursor to the new system. It is intended to be freestanding and administratively simple, with states given broad flexibility in its design so that it can be easily folded into existing/future program structures.”

Hillary is a commie.

If Graeme Frost and his sister were in a car accident, where is the medical coverage for their car insurance? Or, maybe, Halsey Frost (and the Demo-gogues)want me and my fellow taxpayers to pay for his auto insurance as well.

Well done!

Same thought I had. Uninsured driver?...illegal alien, perhaps? In that case, the parents were too cheap to pay the extra premium for uninsured motorist coverage.

Why no lawsuit?

Maybe icwhatudo will investigate that particular angle. We know the press never will.

Good job backing ideas up with facts. The dems will stoop to anything.

That's the bottom line in all of this socialized medicine nonsense, and well said.

Can anyone spell "INCOME REDISTRIBUTION"?

As the liberals took over the U.S. and Political Correctness became the order of the day, Lawlessness has come to dominate the U.S. landscape.

Right is now wrong.

The so called Rule of Law has evaporated (we've created a new super class of white collar criminal that's unstoppable)

The laws we have on the books have no more value than a used piece of toilet paper.

The U.S. Constitution got flushed down the toilet also.

And various factions around the U.S. have created sanctuary cities to protect the criminal illegal element in this country, all with federal and state tax dollars.

20 years ago they wouldn't be pulling this crap.

The country is so divided that we will never be able to elect any decent leaders as they are so busy pandering to the ever growing number of factions that they need to appease to get elected.

This country is turning inside out and upside down.

We are not officially our own worst enemy. We are the enemy within that so many predicted would come. It is here and it is us. We have elected our enemies.

We are too lazy to defeat those we have elected to destroy us. Why? Because they have us so busy working to just make ends meet that the last thing we have to worry about is proactive civil involvement.

Hell, if you take too much time to get involved, your neighbor (who happens to work for a collection agency) will be on the phone within hours of an overdue payment.

Take heed people. Please. Times are changing and the only thing that will change what's happening in this country is an outright refusal to accept the hypocrisy.

Needs repeating.

I read somewhere recently in a commentary about the creep of socialized medicine something like (I'm paraphrasing):

"Is Hillary the mother figure we want to 'kiss and make it better'? I'd rather be a Dickensian orphan."

I think that sums it up pretty well.

The socialized medicine train is chugging along. And why not? It's been a rousing success wherever it's been practiced. Just ask England and Canada.

The trouble with bastards like this father is that he wants to be left alone to earn his millions, but he wants the rest of us to pick up the tab for his "misfortunes." He's just the kind of greedy citizen who will put Hillary in the White House, and then just watch how much of his fortune is eaten up in taxes and how much of his freedom to earn that fortune is taken away.

Don't listen to liberals who say that this has nothing to do with providing illegals healthcare.

Let me take a moment to discuss what I call the "welfare mentality".

I have a (single) neighbor a little older than me with diabetes. He has an abscess (lesion) on the bottom of his foot that won't heal - Charcot Foot, I think they call it.

He's on medicare and has tried every treatment that we taxpayers will pay for - $700 per ounce ointments, expensive skin grafts, everything...but nothing worked.

I asked him if he knew about hyperbaric oxygen treatments for that condition. He said, "Well sure, but they cost $10,000 and medicare won't pay for them!"

I glanced over at his collection of Waterford Crystal which must be worth five times that much, and decided that he was willing to lose his foot rather than pay for a procedure that might save his foot.

Oh yeah, he's a rabid Hillary Clinton supporter.

Cooper, I think we all know someone like your neighbor, who wants to have his cake and eat it too (and he wants the rest of us to do the baking). When socialized medicine becomes the norm here in America (a certainty if Hillary gets elected, and just a little less quickly if someone else does), there will be more cake eaters than cake bakers and the quality of our healthcare will deteriorate to put us on a par with Canada and the rest of the socialized world.

I don't want to die a premature death but I hope I'm not alive to see it.

John Cooper, your last paragraph is redundant, considering the first five.

Recently I was behind a neighbor in the line at the grocery store. She paid for her very large grocery order with food stamps and then bought 2 cartons of cigarettes for about $35. So I bought her food and she bought her cigarettes. Nice deal.

I went to the doctor recently for the first time in 30 years or so.
(Fell down and hurt my hand fairly badly).

The first one knew nothing and was as goofy as a jaybird in his inflated opinion of himself because he was supposedly a "doctor."

The second one knew nothing but was less goofy and admitted there was nothing he could do.

I eventually figured out some exercises for it on my own that improved it somewhat.

What a useless "profession' that is.

And of course each one had a large crew of secretaries working away with reams of paperwork that took more space than the 'doctor' part of their offices.

I have known sports trainers who went to the third grade who knew more (that was useful) than these members of this 'elite' profession.

Most doctors are just drug pushers and they use trial and error alot more than "knowledge."

We can do alot more for ourselves by taking care of our bodies with diet, exercise, attitude and healthy living than by visiting any doctor, except in extreme circumstances.

Incredible story, John.

Your neighbor reminds me of a former neighbor of ours from many years ago. Our neighbor's story isn't related to government largesse, but she appears to possess the same 'misplaced priority' gene that your neighbor has.

The toilet in their main bathroom was broken, and the family (two adults and three children) were forced to use the one in the far corner of their basement -- which, to put it mildly, was a major inconvenience.

The situation remained that way for probably close to a month, because of the 'high cost' of bringing in a plumber to fix the problem.

During that month, my neighbor hailed me while I was walking the dog, and excitedly dragged me into her house to show me two beautiful 'rare' Madame Alexander dolls, totalling $600, that she had just purchased for her doll collection.

(*sigh*)

Anonymous said...

Let's see...fix the toilet or buy Madame Alexander dolls...hmmmm. What a dilemma.

Sheesh. Toilet Fixing should be a required course in High School. Well, not a course, because it's so simple it could be taught in four hours. You can change an entire toilet in less than an hour, if need be.

Hey, I've got an idea. Why not a "Home Maintenance" course in High School. Leaky faucets, toilets, basic electrical stuff, painting, carpentry...

Nah, too practical...
