Congratulations to Dana Sensenig, a former student of mine, who will be taking part in the Olympics in Beijing this August.
This past Sunday, Dana, along with her now-Olympic-bound U.S.A. field hockey team, won the pre-Olympic international field hockey tournament in Kazan, Russia.
The U.S. went 5-0 in the tournament and never trailed in any game, while routing three of their five opponents in shutout victories. The U.S. outscored their opponents by a total of 27-4.
A recent graduate of Old Dominion University (VA), Dana will be spending the next few weeks with her folks here in Lancaster County before heading to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California for a month of intense training. She will then head to Germany and Holland for a few test games, and then on to China in early August.
Congratulations on a job well done, Dana! Your eight years of intense training, sacrifice and dedication will serve you and your teammates well this summer as you proudly represent America in Beijing!
(There's gold in them there hills). :)

Very impressive.
Good luck to Dana and the team this summer!
Even though many of us are disgusted that the Olympics are being held in Beijing, we can't help but be proud of our athletes and wish them well.
Good luck Dana and the American field hockey team!
It looks like the U.S. already has one gold sewed up. :>)
Joanie, you must be SO proud!
Awesome! Go Dana!
Your eight years of intense training, sacrifice and dedication....
That second photo says it all.
Go Dana and teammates!
It's good to hear when young people accomplish such feats. Congratulations to Dana and good luck to her team in Beijing!
Great news! I wish all the girls well. Please keep us posted on their progress, Joanie.
Tough girls, huh?
That's terrific, Joanie, that you know someone who's going to Beijing. Please wish her luck from those of us who are athletically-challenged. ;)
