REQUIEM

Below are the two final essays to be posted on Allegiance and Duty Betrayed. The first one is written by a friend -- screen name 'Euro-American Scum' -- who, over the past four years, has been the most faithful essayist here. He has written about everything from his pilgrimage to Normandy in 2004 to take part in the 60th–year commemoration of the invasion, to his memories of his tour in Vietnam. His dedication to America’s founding principles ... and those who have sacrificed to preserve them over the past 200+ years ... is unequaled. Thank you, E-A-S. It has been a privilege to include your writing here, and it is a privilege to call you my friend.

The second essay is my own farewell. And with it I thank all of the many regular visitors, and those who may have only dropped in occasionally, for coming here. I hope you learned something. I hope a seed or two was planted. But, even if not, I thank you for stopping by ... 25 March, 2010

Al Gore vs. Marsha Blackburn
(Lying Arrogance vs. Honest Humility)

Take a good look at/listen to this brief Youtube clip of Al Gore being questioned yesterday by Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, representing Tennessee’s 7th district (and keep your eyes and ears open for mention of her whenever the conservative wing of the republican party gets serious about seeking out new leadership). Congresswoman Blackburn simply seeks to have Al Gore clarify his association with a company that benefits from Cap and Trade legislation.

Gore’s behavior toward Blackburn, and her behavior toward him, serve as a microcosm of the struggle occurring between the ‘climate change’ cabal vs. Americans who simply want to know the truth about the ‘science’ of global warming, and those who stand to profit, both financially and by amassing substantial political power, through its acceptance.

Congresswoman Blackburn is courteous, sincere and honest in her questioning. Mr. Gore is rude (even to the point of sneering and laughing at her heartfelt concern), derisive, condescending, and angrily defensive in his answers.

Yet another example of the monumental attempt to quell any kind of dissention (even from an elected American representative who simply wants to ferret out the truth) as regards leftist propaganda/demagoguery.

Al Gore is a stupid, pompous megalomaniac to whom free speech represents an insidious threat to rampant leftist indoctrination. And he is simply one of a growing power-hungry group of ‘leaders’ in Washington that has the suppression of free speech near the top of their list of essential political priorities.

At Last Minute... Dems Refuse to Allow Global Warming Skeptic to Testify Alongside Al Gore In Congress Today~~~~~
UK's Lord Christopher Monckton, a former science advisor to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, claimed House Democrats have refused to allow him to appear alongside former Vice President Al Gore at high profile global warming hearing on Friday April 24, 2009 at 10am in Washington. Monckton told Climate Depot that the Democrats rescinded his scheduled joint appearance at the House Energy and Commerce hearing on Friday. Monckton said he was informed that he would not be allowed to testify alongside Gore when his plane landed from England Thursday afternoon.

“The House Democrats don't want Gore humiliated, so they slammed the door of the Capitol in my face,” Monckton told Climate Depot in an exclusive interview. “They are cowards.”

Gore is despicable!

Blackburn handled herself very well, with the possible exception of allowing herself to get a little off balance the first time Gore laughed at her off camera. I think she did herself proud. He is slime.

Thanks for the link, Cooper. If the shoe were on the other foot (that is, if conservatives did what House Dems just did to Monckton) the story would be headline news for a week. What a travesty!

There's nothing more infuriating than being talked down to by an arrogant moron.

When he started laughing at her legitimate questions I wish she had said something like, "This is a House hearing, Mr. Gore. Please try to show some respect for government procedure."

Another thing.

When she tried to explain that she was "just seeking clarification of a few points" he answered "Oh I know what you're doing. WE ALL know what you're doing," he was insinuating that this was a witch hunt. That's a typical liberal ploy- deflect the blame to someone else. What a b*st*rd!

Thanks for starting my day with a migraine, Joanie! ;)

#1. I do not believe that Al Gore puts all of his proceeds into climate foundations. He’s one of those politicians who can’t account for how he amassed all his wealth.

#2. Even if he does, he is making huge profits on pro-global-warming legislation that he lobbies for, and then putting the profits he makes as a result of that legislation into global warming funds? It’s STILL a conflict of interest.

Al Gore is a hate-filled man.

From the liberal perspective:

No doubt, one of the things former Vice President Al Gore expected on Friday was to come face to face with the head in the sand crowd. However, even he was likely a bit surprised when Rep. Blackburn insinuated that the whole purpose of his environmental work is personal greed. This woman is one of the most annoying congresspeople, second only to Michele Bachman. Her insinuation even brought back Gore’s famous sigh and with good reason. She made a fool of herself, which is clear even in the short clip here.Nobel Laureate Al Gore Silences Marsha BlackburnIsn't it amazing how liberals can watch the same video and come away thinking Gore looked good?????

When Gore and Blackburn stand before their maker on judgment day, I wonder who'll be laughing.

Al Gore is nothing more than a clown with connections, laughing at a woman who still knows what the term "public servant" means.

I agree with you, Lori. I have immense respect for Congresswoman Blackburn, but she needed to put the gloves on with Gore and she really didn't.

When he responded that he puts all of the proceeds from his 'green' investments into related foundations, she should have called him on that. It is still a major conflict of interest.

He is lobbying, possibly more than any other single human being, for 'climate change'-related legislation (which is going to shackle virtually every aspect of American life with bureaucratic regulation aimed at the re-molding of our entire society), and he is, at the same time, on the boards of, or heavily invested in, countless companies that will benefit from that legislation.

The fact that he contributes his earnings from said ventures (which I don't believe anyway) to global warming foundations doesn't lessen one iota the fact that his affiliations are a conflict of interest.

He is using his ill-gotten gain to further the dissemination of the bogus theory, and to silence all opposition -- all on the backs of the American taxpayer.

AND HERE IS A REPUBLICAN IN ACTION:

Specter Calls for ‘Revolution’ and ‘Uprising’ Against Republicans 'Far to the Right'

Thursday, April 30, 2009
By Josiah Ryan, Staff Writer

http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=47391

Specter, announced, Tuesday, April 28, 2009, that he is switching from the Republican to Democratic party.

(CNSNews.com) - There ought to be a “rebellion” and an “uprising” against right-wing elements that are trying to purify the Republican Party, Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania said Tuesday, shortly after he announced he would leave the Grand Old Party to become a Democrat.

Specter said Republicans "far to the right" in the party, who are more worried about ideology than winning elections, have brought about one costly defeat after another for the GOP, including the tabling of 34 of President Bush’s nominees for federal judgeships. Those defeats were the result of the right’s opposition to moderates in the party, such as himself, said Specter.

“They [Republicans on far right] don’t make any bones about their willingness to lose the general election if they can purify the party,” Specter said at his Tuesday press conference. “I don’t understand it, but that’s what they say.”

“And for the people who are Republicans to sit by and allow them to continue to dominate the party … there ought to be a rebellion,” he said. “There ought to be an uprising.”

Specter was referring to an adviser to Pat Toomey, the former president of the conservative Club for Growth, who announced on Apr. 15 that he would launch a primary challenge against Specter in 2010.

Specter suggested on Tuesday that his reason for switching parties was in part based on polls that indicated he was unlikely to survive Toomey’s primary challenge.

In making his argument, Specter cited several cases where conservative elements of the GOP opposed moderate Republicans and either beat them in the primary and then lost the general election, or so weakened the candidate in the primary that he could not go on to defeat the Democrat in the general election.

In 2006, moderate former-Sen. Lincoln Chaffee (R-R.I.) was weakened in a primary challenge by a conservative Republican who was supported by the Club for Growth, according to Specter. Chaffee was then defeated in the general election, which [with two independents caucusing with Democrats] changed the balance of the Senate, and cost Republicans the confirmation of 34 of President Bush’s federal judgeship nominees, said Specter.

“The Club for Growth challenged Lincoln Chafee,” said Specter. “They made him spend all his money in the primary and he lost the general. Had Lincoln Chafee been elected in 2006, the Republicans would have controlled the Senate in 2007 and 2008 and I would have been chairman of the committee.”

Until Tuesday, Specter was the ranking Republican member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, which reports federal judgeship nominations to the floor, and is highly influential in the confirmation process.

“President Bush nominated 13 circuit judges, but they were all left on the table for President Obama,” said Specter. “President Bush nominated 21 district court judges and they were all left on the table for Obama.”

“They beat Chafee and cost of us Republican control of the Senate and 34 federal judges,” said Specter.

In 2007, Chafee quit the Republican Party to become an independent and supported the candidacy of President Barack Obama in 2008.

Joanie, have you noticed that this company that she refers to, where Gore is on the board, is a privately owned company?

Almost all of the companies that are investing in this green technology, and that stand to benefit from liberal legislation, are privately owned. So even if we wanted to get in on the profits we couldn't.

They have all the bases covered!

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS:

Former Barney Frank staffer now top Goldman Sachs lobbyist

By Timothy P. Carney Examiner Columnist 04/28/09

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/Former-Barney-Frank-staffer-now-top-Goldman-Sachs-lobbyist-43914907.html

Goldman Sachs' new top lobbyist was recently the top staffer to Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., on the House Financial Services Committee chaired by Frank.

Michael Paese, a registered lobbyist for the Securities Industries and Financial Markets Association since he left Frank's committee in September, will join Goldman as director of government affairs, a role held last year by former Tom Daschle intimate, Mark Patterson, now the chief of staff at the Treasury Department. This is not Paese's first swing through the Wall Street-Congress revolving door: he previously worked at JP Morgan and Mercantile Bankshares, and in between served as senior minority counsel at the Financial Services Committee.

Politico reported this last week based on an anonymous source, and Bloomberg confirmed it today.

Gore recruited most of the former top staff of Goldman Sachs including David Blood, former chief executive of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, to establish Generation Investment Management, Gore's London-based environmental fund.

Gore Financially Invested in Climate CauseCybercast News Service May 14, 2008by Fred Lucas

(CNSNews.com) - Weeks before announcing a $300-million, three-year advertising campaign to raise awareness about global warming, Al Gore was conducting a slide show for a group of investors in Monterey, Calif., touting companies such as Bloom Energy, Amryis , Mascoma and other firms that are not household names -- yet.

These bio-fuel and green technology firms could be poised to take off, Gore told his audience.

"Here are just a few of the investments I personally think make sense," he said during the March 1 presentation. "I have a stake in these so I'll have a disclaimer there."

Gore's admitted stake in those companies comes from his partnership in the venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB). Gore joined the firm last November, forging a partnership between KPCB and the London-based Generation Investment Management, a firm Gore chairs, and which steers investments in green and "sustainable" companies. This month, KPCB announced it has invested $500 million into start-up "green growth" companies, and another $700 million into more established greentech, information technology and life science ventures.

The seed money is intended to "grow" the companies so they can be publicly traded. Both funds are closed to further investment. Last week, Generation Investment Management reportedly closed a $683-million "Climate Solutions Fund" to further investment.

. . .

To Gore's critics, his financial stake in businesses that could profit from government policies designed to fight global warming demonstrates a motivation other than a selfless desire to protect the planet.

Gore has lobbied Congress and state governments to enact bolder environmental regulations. Gore's defenders counter that he and his partners are simply looking at companies that will have long-term sustainability during the "climate crisis."
. . .
As a private citizen, Gore is not required to publicly disclose how much of his personal fortune is invested in the venture capital firm. KPCB spokeswoman Brianna Woon declined to say how much Gore had invested in the firms, and she said the firms couldn't comment at this time on whether the greentech companies can succeed without government action.
. . .
In public statements, KPCB has pointed to the likelihood of new government policies as a selling point for investors.
. . .
Last November KPCB and Generation Investment Management announced a "global collaboration to find, fund and accelerate green businesses, technology and policy solutions with the greatest potential to help solve the current climate crisis."

When Gore joined KPCB as a partner, KCPB's John Doerr joined the Generation Investment Management advisory board.

Aaron, you nailed it.

Everything that has been happening since the sh*t hit the fan with the subprime mortgage thing was pre planned by the liberals in D.C.

Not only did they not give a damn about the life savings of the average American, and not only did they protect themselves from the catastrophe, but now they are reaping huge benefits.

And this will continue on into the future until they are even more powerful and more wealthy than they are now, while the country they live in becomes a third worlds country, and its people slaves (to them).

The reason AL Gore is laughing in the face of a government inquiry is that he counts every day in his mind the vast monies filling his personal bank accounts, his supposed "not for profit" company accounts, his associates accounts, his friends and cronies accounts... all at the expense of real hard working and tax-paying Americans and soon at the expense of the world. Climate temperatures, which are likely either stable or are going in the opposite direction than Gore and his corrupted global warming "scientists" are claiming, has yet to be responsibly studied in the open. This movement, especially in light of recent events, has reared its real head as nothing more than a sinister and indirect way for government to oppress and unjustly tax ALL the people without the people's consent or representation, and then to specifically to use those taxes to engorge corrupt officials (like Gore) and merciless venture capitalists while simultaneously growing the Marxist dream of a totalitarian government bureaucracy. If you can't get the people to vote for higher taxes to achieve big government, then Big Brother has found an alternative way to impoverish and take away money from the rich, the middle class and the poor simultaneously and deviously via another avenue - Cap & Trade - a deviant and indirect form of mass-taxation. Unless stopped, they will achieve their Marxist goal of engorging their power and financial infrastructure designed only for oppressing the masses before the people can realize it, react to it, or stop it. The cry of "Global Warming " is not based on responsible science, but rather a totalitarian ideology bent on controlling private businesses and industry and taxing vast populations under a multi-billion dollar global fraud scheme. Now, as cracks have appeared in their "warming geoshpere" these Marxists are redoubling their efforts to push climate legislation through even faster before the real truth of the earth's real climate patterns become known. This is only one part of a large Marxist agenda and Marxist movement in America, which seeks to centralize power and wealth in the hands of a select few of well connected and absolutely corrupt bureaucrats and bankers who are drunk with greed. America is suffering terribly at their hands, but today's suffering pales to what suffering may come tomorrow if Gore, Clinton, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, as well as Bank of America, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, Bear Stearns, AIG, and also Greenspan, Bernanke et.al. get their way. These Marxists and Financial Anarchists are engaged together in the biggest rip-off America. Cap & Trade, Derivatives & Credit Default Swaps, Socialized Health Care, and Federal Reserve policy only grossly enrich a handful of insiders like Gore and the other corrupt oligarchs. They want the same end for differing reasons, at the expense of precious freedom and liberty of America. These individuals are engaged in treason against our state, and will bankrupt the country if left unstopped. What greater threat is there to our once great nation than for it to be rendered unproductive, insolvent, and unable to defend itself? Every American needs to learn from history (Russia, China, Romania, Cambodia, Cuba, etc.)what consequences loom in the face of a Marxist movement. Rest assured that Cap & Trade alone will hurt everyone from the highest airplane passenger down to the poorest apartment renter if it is not stopped. Please America, look to history where Marxism reveals itself the ideology not of equality but of absolute corruption, oppression and death. Karl Marx and the miss-guided principles outlined in Marx's turn of the century book, Das Kapital, is the fundamental basis of communism that resulted in hundreds of millions dying by torture, imprisonment, and execution this century. This book resulted in hundreds of millions more deaths than did from the book, Mein Kamph, written by Adolf Hitler.
