REQUIEM

Below are the two final essays to be posted on Allegiance and Duty Betrayed. The first one is written by a friend -- screen name 'Euro-American Scum' -- who, over the past four years, has been the most faithful essayist here. He has written about everything from his pilgrimage to Normandy in 2004 to take part in the 60th–year commemoration of the invasion, to his memories of his tour in Vietnam. His dedication to America’s founding principles ... and those who have sacrificed to preserve them over the past 200+ years ... is unequaled. Thank you, E-A-S. It has been a privilege to include your writing here, and it is a privilege to call you my friend.

The second essay is my own farewell. And with it I thank all of the many regular visitors, and those who may have only dropped in occasionally, for coming here. I hope you learned something. I hope a seed or two was planted. But, even if not, I thank you for stopping by ... 25 March, 2010

The Power of an Ember

Rick and I have season tickets to a local theater. Today we attended a performance of 'Hello Dolly!' One of the lines delivered by Dolly's betrothed reads, Ninety-nine percent of the people in this world are fools, and the rest of us are in danger of being contaminated.

It put me in mind of the way many conservatives have felt for a long time, with increasing unease. I suspect that his estimate of ninety-nine percent may be significantly exaggerated, but I occasionally understand where he is coming from.

We can no longer depend on Washington or the mainstream media to either disseminate the truth or work in our best interests. Obviously that state of affairs has been in existence for decades, but its insidious nature has ramped up exponentially over the past seven months.

The tools at our disposal to affect change in our leadership, our direction as a free republic, and our efforts to derail the Marxist 'American' train, are dwindling. What we still have within our grasp is the personal responsibility to attempt to awaken that portion of the citizenry that continues to prefer somnambulism to living an informed, vigilant life. It may not seem like much, but, as long as an ember remains, there exists the memory of fire.

Over the past few months I have discovered, as have many of you, the existence of a modern American Thomas Paine, in the person of Glenn Beck.

Rick and I watch his political commentary religiously. If we are not at home at 5 PM, we record it for future viewing ... every day.

We have attended his programs ‘The Christmas Sweater’ and ‘The Common Sense Comedy Tour’, both simulcast within the past year in theaters across the nation. Both experiences were incomparably uplifting and inspiring. From the audiences' collective reactions to both programs, rest assured that the inspiration we received was not unique to us.

If you have not watched Beck's program (the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment), I suggest that you do so.

Once.

If you do not come away from one viewing with the belief that this man is not simply a conservative complainer, as are most so-called conservative pundits, watch the program again. Everyone has an off day.

After a second watching, if you are an American conservative, a believer in the sanctity of the U.S. Constitution, and fearing that your beloved republic is being systematically dismantled by a coalition of radical leftist revolutionaries, I pretty much guarantee that you will realize that Mr. Beck is:
  • a self-educated man with no agenda

  • a man who believes in amassing exhaustive research from reputable sources and painting a comprehensive 'portrait of America'

  • a modern American patriot

  • passionate about the need to return America to her roots

  • honest

  • genuinely searching for solutions that will save our republic from ruin

  • among the best teachers you have ever had the privilege to witness, whether or not you agree with every ‘lesson’ he presents
Tool #1: If you watch the Glenn Beck program and are in agreement with all of the above, tell as many people as you can about the program.

Advertisers -- GEICO, Procter and Gamble, Progressive Insurance, Men’s Wearhouse and Sargento among them -- are abandoning Glenn Beck because he is too ‘controversial’ (read: he refuses to march in lockstep with the Obama administration and the 111th congress, and those behind-the-scenes movers and shakers who are authoring many of the grotesque policies that Washington is shoving down our throats).

We need to provide an equal and opposite reaction. We need to grow his audience in order to (1) provide more incentive for businesses to advertise there, and (2) educate the American citizenry regarding the massive amount of behind-the-scenes maneuvering that is going on in (‘transparent’) Washington, and who the movers and shakers are –- making decisions that will effect your and my life far into the future, not to mention the futures of Americans for generations to come ... if indeed America as we know it manages to survive the current unprecedented, no-holds-barred assault on her noble underpinnings.

I cannot count the number of people who have said to me in utter confusion over the past year or so, when new legislation is introduced, ‘This program is supposed to help the American people?’ ... or words to that effect.

The next time someone says something similar to you, do the following (I have done so for several months now, with surprisingly positive results, many of which aren’t relayed to me until sometime later):

Tool #2: Tell him/her your own version of the following simplistic truths:

The elitists in our government did not merely allow the economic bubbles and industry disasters of the past few years to take shape ... they helped to create the conditions that made the crises almost inevitable. See the Community Reinvestement Act (only one among countless government programs that encouraged, and in some cases even required, the reckless massive loaning of money to people who could not afford to repay the loans). Consider the effects that major unions and 'community organizations' have had on the American economy/industrial base, and the role that the panderers posing as 'leaders' in Washington played in their rise to immense, entirely unconstitutional political power.

Whenever you hear of a new policy, or new legislation, coming out of Washington these days ... one that leaves you scratching your head and asking, ‘How, exactly, does this benefit Americans?’ ... take that head-scratching and put it to better use. Instead, ask yourself, ‘How will this eventually cause the American citizenry to be more dependent on government?’ ... and therefore inevitably render the U.S. Constitution obsolete, while simultaneously increasing the power of our elitist rulers, who appear to believe that they know what is best for us, far better than we do.

Think about that question when you ponder the so-called ‘stimulus bills’ (of which there will be many more, just over the horizon), the nationalization of private industry, the eventual government takeover of our healthcare system, the dramatic increase in oppressive and irrational 'climate change' legislation, the grotesque and increasing power of unions, 'community organizations', and other special interest groups, the government’s virtual eventual seizure of (what's left of) our energy sector ... and on and on, ad infinitum ...

For the first time in America's history, radical leftists -- including a significant number of avowed Communists -- have taken over control of a major political party, if not by their actual presence in the party, then by their close mentorship of those who are. American 'democrats' of a generation ago wouldn't be willing to sit in the same room with much of the 'new democrat' leadership. Their party has been rendered unrecognizable.

The goal of the 'new democrat' party is to overwhelm the system, create monumental problems -- meticulously following Rahm Emmanuel’s admonition to 'never let a serious crisis go to waste’ -- until the America we once knew is unrecognizable ... and then create a ‘new America’ from the ashes, and in their own images.

And how better to accomplish that dubious feat than to (1) destroy our republic’s largest corporations, send in the government to ‘revamp’ them, author bureaucratic rules by which they must do business, and bring some of the former corporate execs on board, (2) declare the state an enemy of genuine entrepreneurship and small businesses, (3) dramatically increase ‘environmental law’ so as to drive farmers and ranchers out of business, (4) pass draconian ‘climate change’ legislation that will severely handcuff any industry that dares to remain viable and profitable, (5) take over massive segments of society that were once left to private enterprise –- including healthcare –- and regulate that segment so that it affects virtually every aspect of every American’s life,(6) eliminate free speech and opposition rhetoric ... and on and on ...

Most Americans want nothing more than to strive for excellence, work hard, take care of their families, live by the golden rule, enjoy the fruits of their labor and leave something for their children. The realization of all of those simple dreams, founded on our God-given liberties, requires minimal government ... as does our Constitution.

Yet, for the past few decades (probably since George McGovern sought the White House back in '72), there has arisen a cadre of men who believe they are a kind of chosen elite, destined to lead a crusade, the results of which will render every American, other than the chosen elite, 'equal' -- a la Animal Farm -- and equally dependent on this elite leadership for their very existence.

Virtually every major move that occurs is Washington these days is focused on that end. And anyone who dares to attempt to stand in the way of the steamroller is viewed as an enemy of some sort: an angry, unruly mob -- as in tea party and town hall attendees -- a racist -- as in anyone who dares to disagree with the man in the White House -- and any number of other derogatory labels, a la Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals advice to 'isolate and demonize the opposition'.

The Constitution has been declared irrelevant and the transformation will occur, with or without our, or our representatives' (those few who still have their eyes focused on the Constitution), consent. Have a good look at at least the first twenty seconds, if not the entire tirade, of a recent house deliberation , which serves as one of the latest examples of unconstitutional congressional ‘decision-making’ -- and one of the many responses by conservative members of congress.

Our elected officials no longer have our best interests at heart, and haven’t for a long time. Our mainstream media no longer seek to inform, and haven’t for a long time.

America’s future is being determined by a leftist cadre of ‘leaders’ who claim to believe in a perverted kind of social justice. Engrave that term into your consciousness, because, under its guise, your country is being led into suicidal oblivion.

Our 'leadership' wraps every corrupt government policy in a cloak of social justice ‘compassion’ and masks itself as a champion of the downtrodden, the sick, the oppressed, children, the environment, the planet, flora, fauna, butterflies, ladybugs ... and anything else whose defense appears noble.

Because, in that way, our leadership can unabashedly label anyone who does not support their agenda as hateful, bigoted, small-minded, greedy, intolerant and self-absorbed.

Yet their agenda bears no resemblance to genuine social justice. Its primary goal is the amassing of power over others. They are, you see, a privileged elite – godlike in their wisdom, and willing and prepared to rule the planet. They are determined to convince you and your children that white people and capitalism are pure evil, that America's unprecedented prosperity and super power status were gained through a raping of the environment and centuries-long oppression of the rest of the world -- and that we, as a people and a nation, need to get down on our knees and beg the world's forgiveness for our sins.

The only thing standing in the way of a complete realization of their vision of America's utopian transformation is man’s love of liberty, and his recognition of the source of that liberty.

God will not blink. Nor will He forgive men who deprive other men of their divinely-bestowed free will.

Until now, America has stood as the bastion of that all-powerful, all-encompassing concept. If the citizens of America relinquish their reverence for individual liberty to those who worship the ability to wield unbridled power over other men, freedom will be dealt a blow from which it will never recover.

Do all that you can to simply and sincerely inform and educate everyone you meet. Doing so remains our most powerful tool. And its use is required of every freedom-loving American. Speaking out in the name of human freedom and dignity is of more importance now than ever before in the history of mankind.

Cherish being an ember.

There's the biggest rub of all, and it is right out of Saul Alinsky's teachings.

Just this morning I read that some are calling the people who want to prevent their children from watching Obama's school propaganda on Tuesday "racist."

If Obama got it in his head to drop a nuclear bomb on an American city, anyone who opposed that would be racist too.

From Robert Reyes, in American Chronicle today:

This has been the summer of the town hall meeting trolls. This Astroturf movement has been whipping up hysteria -- warning that health care reform is the first step in Obama's master plan to set up a socialist government.

These right-wing nutjobs have a vendetta against Obama, they depict the president as a socialist who is against Mom, apple pie and democracy.

Obama is a wonky intellectual who speaks in calm and measured tones, and I find it difficult to understand how anybody could possibly mistake him for a dangerous radical.

But I guess I'm not a racist who sees only Obama's black skin, and overlooks his eloquence, intelligence and bipartisan spirit.

Nice huh? A fine example of the unbiased media.

Joanie, this is one of your best yet. Thank you!

Look at this from politico.com:

Fox News host Glenn Beck, who led the charge against Van Jones, the environmental adviser who resigned early this morning following controversy over past radical statements and affiliations, said in a statement to POLITICO that "the American people stood up and demanded answers."

"Instead of providing them, the Administration had Jones resign under cover of darkness," Beck said. "I continue to be amazed by the power of everyday Americans to initiate change in our government through honest questioning, and judging by the other radicals in the administration, I expect that questioning to continue for the foreseeable future."

John Cooper said...

"The history of the world begins anew with every man, and ends with him."

How Democracies Perish from Lance Fairchok in The American Thinker:

"While visiting a used bookstore...I found another Revel book, How Democracies Perish. In its pages, I found a chilling examination of the methodologies used to undermine and destroy free market democracies. Written within the context of the cold war, Revel dissected democracies external and internal conflicts, those arising from the totalitarian impulses of socialism. He identified democracies fifth column, the political insurgents that fight against prosperity and success, deluded by utopian ideologies and filled with the monumental arrogance that defines the left.

---quote---
"But democracy can defend itself only very feebly; its internal enemy has an easy time of it because he exploits the right to disagree that is inherent in democracy. His aim of destroying democracy itself, of actively seeking an absolute monopoly of power, is shrewdly hidden behind the citizen's right to oppose and criticize the system. Paradoxically, democracy offers those seeking to abolish it a unique opportunity to work against it legally. They can even receive almost open support from the external enemy without its being seen as a truly serious violation of the social contract. The frontier is vague, the transition easy between the status of a loyal opponent wielding a privilege built into democratic institutions and that of an adversary subverting those institutions. To totalitarianism, an opponent is by definition subversive; democracy treats subversives as mere opponents for fear of betraying it principles."
---end quote---

"Revel's description was prescient. Today, the "internal enemy" chips away with manic energy, promising idyllic outcomes, using populist messages built of falsehood, creating expectations of the impossible. Spreading confusion that diminishes our national self-confidence and encourages inaction, they have infected our democracy with a guilt that has no basis in fact. Their agenda is one of deconstructive contrarianism, which they cleverly call progressivism that blames all the world's ills on our success.

In the short time Obama and the radical left have been in power, they have worked hard to bleed our spirit and our energy with massive tax increases, corruption, cronyism, special interest entitlements, new regulations and the politicization of our institutions. They appease tyrants, siding against democracies, giving unredeemable despots status and legitimacy and prolonging the suffering of millions. They mouth the words of our founders to hide their true nature. They work to dismantle freedom after freedom, destroying what we have proudly fought for and so lovingly built. They do not revere what has made us great; they embrace all that will bring us down. They take success and call it failure, and demand we bow our heads and accept ridicule from those who cannot equal us."

(continued...)

John Cooper said...

(continued...)

"Revel writes, "Perhaps in history democracy will have been an accident, a brief parenthesis which comes to a close before our very eyes." We now know that tyranny can grow from the fertile ground of national success just as surely as it does from poverty. From whatever direction it comes at us, from economic desperation or elitist ideology, the consequences will be the same, eventual disaster and ruin, our greatness but a memory. Our external enemies cannot defeat us, yet we face deconstruction by homegrown socialists and admitted communists. How Democracies Perish has a new relevance born of old insights. In its final line, Revel quotes the words of Achim d'Arnim, "The history of the world begins anew with every man, and ends with him." Ultimately, the America we love lives or dies because of the action or inaction of its citizens. Revel reminds us of the terrible responsibility of that citizenship, as we face a battle for survival, against ourselves."

Here's something along a similar vein:

If you don't see eye-to-eye on an issue with your ideological counterparts - rather than debate the issue, you can go on national TV and call them derogatory names like liberal talking head David Sirota has done.

Earlier on CNN's Sept. 7 "American Morning", as NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard pointed out, Sirota called Fox News host Glenn Beck a "right-wing political terrorist" and added that Van Jones was "a national hero."

Ban on "Ave Maria" at graduation upheld

Sep 8, 2009 By TIM KLASS Associated Press Writer

http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=11&sid=209883

A federal appeals panel has upheld a decision to bar the instrumental performance of a Christian hymn at a high school graduation in Everett.
The case arose after seniors in the Henry M. Jackson High School wind ensemble asked to play an instrumental version of "Ave Maria" at their commencement in June 2006. When school officials said no, one of the students, Kathryn Nurre, challenged them in court.

U.S. District Judge Robert T. Lasnik upheld the school district, ruling that Nurre's First Amendment rights had not been violated.

On Tuesday, two 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judges agreed with Lasnik. The third, Judge Milan D. Smith, disagreed, writing that it would cause school officials "to chill - or even kill - musical and artistic presentations by their students."

Curtis said...

Ave Naria is not a "Christian hymn."

It is a song for piano and voice by Franz Schubert.

A "hymn" has differing parts sounding at the same time for soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices.

Schubert's Ave Maria is not written in that way.

Montypython2, I don't consider Jones' resignation to be a victory of any kind.

He resigned in the wee hours of the morning, on a holiday weekend, and the major media gave the event a page-four paragraph of coverage.

A man known to rub elbows with felons, people with terrorist connections, and Communists, and who preaches vehemently anti-White, anti-capitalist philosophy, was a close advisor to our president.

He resigned under cover of night, and we are supposed to believe that he will no longer have influence on this administration?

Nor has this adminsitration distanced itself from his radical anti-White, anti-capitalist beliefs.

He has SIMPLY RESIGNED. And the media are asking no questions.

According to them, he resigned as the result of a 'smear campaign', and many of their fingers are pointing directly at Glenn Beck.

All Beck has done, where Jones is concerned, is play video and audio recordings of Jones' own words and policies. If that constituted a 'smear campaign' than the person being smeared apparently crucified himself.

The American citizen has gained nothing from this resignation. Jones will still be advising the president, covertly, and the president has not repudiated his hateful views.

Curtis,

A hymn, strictly speaking, is a song of joy or praise to God.

Although many people believe hymns to be narrowly defined as the four-part Christian songs of devotion as are found in church hymnals, and many other pieces of liturgical music collections, any song of joy or praise to God is a 'hymn'.

If I sit by my bedside tonight, say a prayer, and sing 'Thank you God for this beautiful day and all that it contained!' I have sung a personal hymn to him.

If a chorus sings Handel's entire 'Messiah', they have done the same.

One is deeply personal; the other is magnificent in its creation, and its expression. But they are both examples of hymns.

Thanks for the link to the video. Very interesting. As always, Beck is narrowing his field of vision and focusing in on the real issues/culprits. And he's nowhere near finished. If he were to divulge all of the ugliness in one fell swoop, even his loyal followers would begin scratching their heads. The corruption and evil runs so deep that it has to be uncovered in layers in order to make sense and be digestible to 'normal people' who cannot comprehend how such evil, in such magnitude and such elaborate disguise, can exist.

I intend to tackle the Jarrett story sometime after returning from vacation at the end of the month. It has no place in the essay above, since my purpose was to provide simplistic 'talking points' (no negative connotation intended) to use in conversation with those who appear to be uninformed. To go into something like the Jarrett connection would cause most people's eyes to glaze over.

She is the power behind the president. He doesn't do anything without her okay. And her 'credentials' make Van Jones appear almost patriotic.

She's a Chicago pol through and through -- supports every leftist cause, including radical Islam (and the likes of CAIR), forced 'diversity', stifling of free speech, circumventing the legislative process by force feeding us 'climate change', healthcare, radical environmental policy, etc.

All of these leftist 'advisors' are interesting on the surface. But each of them is a puppet (with Obama, 'The Anointed One', occupying one of the lowest levels).

Yet when all is said and done, our greatest adversaries are the end-of-the-line, string-pulling members of the globalist network, whose leadership invariably answers to the likes of George Soros, Rahm Emanuel, et al.

Throwing us bones like Jones' resignation is laughable. It's like putting the street-corner drug pusher in jail and declaring the drug war won.

The Beck--Van Jones result is VERY significant.

Without a word in the newspapers (NY TIMES, Washington Post, etc.)

and without a word in the TV news

with a COMPLETE BLACKOUT by the 'big' media

Obama had his arm twisted and had to dump Van Jones in a week's time.

This was accomplished by two entities---talk radio and the internet.

Van Jones' own words, coming out of his own mouth ruined him (youtube).

The signficance is that with a complete blackout on the Van Jones sit by the big media (newspaper and TV) Obama was forced to dump Jones.

The internet and talk radio are now more effective in exerting leverage than the big media.

This has never happened before in this way.

The lefties must be scared as they view this turn of events.

John Cooper said...

Mr. Pink:

You're correct that "The lefties must be scared as they view this turn of events."

For the left to force their agenda on America, it's clear to me that they're going to have to somehow block the free exchange of ideas via the Internet and talk radio.

This must be high on Obama's list of things to do. Any thoughts on how he might cut us all off from 'speaking' to each other?

Will Harrington said...

Cooper,

They're going to accomplish this in part through the reently proposed "diversity in local programming" policy. They're going to shut down conservative talk radio without the use of the Fairness Doctrine (because that was too above board). Now they're going to resort to playing the diversity card.

The other new legislation proposed that would allow the shutting down of the internet in cases of "national emergency" will drive the final nail into the coffin of free speech. The President will be able to declare a category 2 hurricaine, or any other event he chooses, a "national emergency".

If you close one door on them, they just saw a smaller hole in the wall somewhere else.

The President Learned Nothing From August

Joe Wilson's "YOU LIE" has now welded the subject of illegal immigration directly to Obama's 'health care' bill.

Brilliant move.

See Wilson's talk to the media today.

He says the Republican leadership ordered him to apologize. And then he used the rest of his two minutes to highlight the illegal immigration and how the democrats defeated two amendments that would have excluded illegal immigrants from healthcare.

And that he would be very happy to 'discuss' the topic of illegal immigration and health care.

The media won't DARE repeat a word he said there.

Joe Wilson was the only honest man in the entire room when he said "YOU LIE!" I commend him, and reject the argument that he was 'disrespectful'. Obama was the the disrespectful one, telling his outright lies to the American public.

Wilson was like the child who told the emperor he had no clothes.

John,

Rick and I made a small donation to Wilson's re-election campaign this afternoon. What was really heartening is that his site was down much of the day because of the enormous amount of traffic it was experiencing. I choose to belief that most of the visitors were expressing positive thoughts!

Thanks for the Guardian article, SMSgt. Emmerich. So blatantly biased and unfair. But that is their stock in trade.

Thanks, also, for the kind words. :)

Guinevere,

Notice that all of the czars' titles suggest that they are either going to be promoting a leftist cause, or seeking to decrease the power and influence of conservative interests.

Thanks for the list. It's depressingly long and occupied by dangerous ideologues, unelected and accountable to anyone but the president.

I can't think of a more sick hypocrisy than these lying, scheming leftists calling Wilson "disrespectful." They don't know the first thing about truth OR respect.

And I think anyone who believes Wilson was out of line ought to sit in on a session of the British Parliament. Hell, they sometimes come to blows.

Obama's Speech Prompts 10 Questions from Republicans

Anonymous said...

Over the past few months I have discovered, as have many of you, the existence of a modern American Thomas Paine, in the person of Glenn Beck.

Amen!

The enormous popularity of his radio and TV programs, and the fact that his books always climb to #1 on the NYT bestsellers list, are proof that Americans are searching for the truth.

Tom Paine is cheering for him, "Way to go, Beck! Tell it like it is!"

(He's also cheering for Joe Wilson.)

John Cooper said...

Joanie--

I, too, sent a contribution to Joe Wilson. I understand that he brought in almost a million dollars in two days from people like us.

Decorum be da*ned. Had Rep. Wilson been 'decorous' and waited until after the speech to make his 'YOU LIE!' comment, not a single person would have ever heard it.

As it was, he exposed Obama as the liar he is, and forced him to push for changing the bill to exclude illegals. Not that it will make any difference.

Until congress changes EMTALA, the illegals will still get taxpayer-funded health care just like they do now. They just show up at the ER and we pay for their treatment via federal block grants.

It was gratifying to see all of the 9-12 participants in D.C. today. I watched the coverage on Fox, so don't know if the other networks covered it. I have vowed never to watch NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN or MSNBC news again and I can't go back on that promise. Does anyone here know if they continue to ignore the outrage?

I didn't watch anything but Fox on the rally in Washington, but even on Fox I heard a liberal commentator being interviewed and she likened the crowd to "McCarty-ites" and the "KKK".

Liberals are running scared and they're getting desperate.

The latest revelations about ACORN are sickening. These people are criminals- many of them felons- and yet they are still funneling millions, if not billion, of taxpayer dollars into their coffers.

I'd like to know who is accounting for the spending of the $700 billion stimulus money. Who's to say that millions of that isn't going to similar organizations? Would we know?

They're picking our pockets to funds their radical revolutionary organizations that want to re-build America in a Marxist mold and it makes me sick.

What the Republican party needs is more Joe Wilsons and fewer John McCains.

Yep.

And what do you want to bet they're the same "leaders" who are calling American patriots who disagree with Obama racists?

The world has been turned upside down.

Joanie, when you get back from Maine I'd be interested to hear what you think of your Senator Casey's vote. ;-)

US Senators who voted NOT to cut off funds to ACORN

The Senate vote is a sham. They cut off HUD funds. ACORN gets funds from a million other places.

Just like What's His Name's (you know, the avowed communist) resignation. Yeah, he officially resigned, but he's still going to be advising the president. And he may even get paid, too. How do we know where the money goes?

The enemies of America are running America, and nobody's watching what they do behind closed doors anymore. They can fudge numbers, direct money and power in an infinite number of ways. The Constitution is dead.

Joe Wilson's campaign has now brought in over $1.5 million of unsolicited donations since the YOU LIE! heard round the world.

Y'all did good. If anyone has any money left that they might want to put to further good use, please donate to the campaign of Pat Toomey who will be running against Arlen Specter.

I agree with "anonymous" above. All that's going on keeping money from Acorn, and resignation of a czar are meaningless unless they have some meat on them.

It could be months before congress finally passes the legislation required to stop the money flowing to Acorn, and we all know that Obama's czars will continue to "advise" him, with or without their titles. And they'll probably get paid well too, somehow.

Hello all.

Apologies for the dearth of writing. Rick and I have been on vacation. Hope to be back in the fray within a week or so.

Just one short comment ...

While in Maine, we pretty much isolated ourselves from the problems of the republic and the world. Just turned on the news this morning, only to find that the leader of the American forces in Afghanistan (members of the most courageous, effective military in the history of mankind) is on his knees begging for more troops in order to win the war and deal Islamic fascism a major blow.

To whom is he begging? A man whose only real job has been inciting minorities to increasingly bleed their government for more favors and handouts.

And what is this 'community organizer's' response? In effect, Don't ask me again. I'm consulting the polls and the power in the democrat party to determine whether sending more troops will stifle my efforts to enslave the American people.

I see nothing has changed during our news hiatus.
